Artwork Information:
Drawing inspiration from Louise Nevelson's monochromatic sculptural compositions—including works in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston—our 6th grade students created their own mixed-media masterpiece. Students utilized found objects and used up art materials to collaboratively cover a wooden canvas panel, taking turns until the entire surface was filled with texture and pattern. The piece was then unified with spray primer and a single bold color, reflecting Nevelson's signature approach of transforming everyday materials into cohesive, contemplative art.
